Niantic has officially confirmed Sprigatito as the star of January’s Pokemon Go Community Day. Mark your calendars for Sunday, January 5th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time. Evolving Floragato during the event or up to five hours after (by 10 p.m. local time) will reward players with a Meowscarada that knows the powerful Featured Attack, Frenzy Plant.
Prior to the official announcement, a teaser video seemingly intended for a later release was briefly published by the Brazilian Pokemon Go account. The video showcased a field of flowers with Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokemon, making a brief appearance accompanied by its distinctive cry, followed by the familiar Community Day logo. Though quickly removed, the video was saved and shared by numerous Pokemon fans online.
Shiny Sprigatito in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
The January 5th date aligns with the previously announced Community Day schedule for next month. With the Grass Cat Pokemon officially revealed, trainers can now prepare for the upcoming event.
Shiny Sprigatito and its evolutions offer subtle differences from their standard counterparts. Shiny Sprigatito’s fur is a slightly lighter green, and its darker markings appear in a deeper shade. The most noticeable change lies in their eye color: normally pink, the Shiny versions of Sprigatito, Floragato, and Meowscarada sport striking purple eyes. Similarly, the flowers adorning Floragato and Meowscarada also shift from pink to purple in their Shiny forms. While these variations might be understated, they add a unique appeal for Shiny hunters.
Sprigatito’s confirmation as the January Community Day Pokemon strongly suggests that Fuecoco and Quaxly, the remaining starters from the Paldea region, will likely be featured in subsequent 2025 Community Day events.
