Stellar Blade received a significant update this week, introducing a photo mode and new NieR: Automata DLC. The NieR: Automata DLC has garnered considerable attention, particularly given the frequent comparisons drawn between Stellar Blade and NieR: Automata since Stellar Blade’s marketing and release. These comparisons often focus on similarities between the two games’ protagonists.

The new photo mode allows players to capture various angles of Eve in diverse outfits. This feature, along with the game’s overall aesthetic, has been a focus of developer Shift Up since the game’s reveal. However, the NieR: Automata DLC includes a humorous surprise for players attempting to view Eve from certain angles. The camera quickly pulls away, and the player is playfully “kicked” for their efforts.

This isn’t censorship or a departure from the game’s established style. Instead, it’s a tribute to a similar feature in both NieR: Automata and NieR: Replicant. In these games, players manipulating the camera to see characters from inappropriate angles were met with a fourth-wall-breaking reprimand. Stellar Blade now incorporates the same playful interaction.

The Stellar Blade x NieR: Automata DLC launched on November 19th and is priced at $9.99. While it doesn’t add new content, it offers cosmetic items for Eve, including four Nanosuits, a face accessory, and three new hairstyles. Drone, Adam, and Lily also receive one new cosmetic item each. The photo mode update, however, is free.

For those interested, the DLC provides a fun way to customize characters. Meanwhile, the free photo mode allows players to explore and capture the game’s visuals in detail. Both additions enhance the Stellar Blade experience, providing players with new options for engagement and personalization.
