The popular MOBA Pokemon Unite is expanding its roster once again, welcoming the Fairy/Steel-type Pokemon, Tinkaton! The official Japanese Pokemon Unite X/Twitter account recently confirmed Tinkaton’s arrival, slated for December 12th. While details about Tinkaton’s gameplay mechanics remain under wraps, fans can anticipate more information soon. Currently, only promo art has been released, leaving players eager to see the hammer-wielding Pokemon in action.
Tinkaton, first introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, is the final evolution of Tinkatink and Tinkatuff. This Pokemon is known for its massive hammer, forged from the metal collected by battling Steel-type Pokemon like Bisharp and Pawniard. Tinkaton uses this impressive tool to launch rocks skyward, targeting airborne Corviknight. The Tinkaton evolutionary line has also featured prominently in the Pokemon Horizons: The Series anime, with both Tinkatink and Tinkatuff accompanying the character Dot.
This exciting announcement comes hot on the heels of Psyduck’s recent addition to Pokemon Unite on November 14th. Psyduck’s arrival marked the final release of the three playable Pokemon revealed at the Pokemon World Championships in August. Armarouge joined the battle in September, followed by Darkrai in October. The swift reveal of Tinkaton suggests a commitment from The Pokemon Company and developer TiMi Studio Group to consistently expand the game’s roster, hinting at more exciting additions throughout 2025.
Expanding the Pokemon Unite Universe
Since its 2021 launch, Pokemon Unite has cultivated an impressive and diverse roster, drawing from various generations. From classic favorites like Pikachu, Mewtwo, and Charizard to newer additions from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, such as Armarouge, Ceruledge, and Miraidon, the game caters to a wide range of Pokemon fans. Tinkaton joins this eclectic mix, raising questions about how its unique abilities will impact the game’s meta. Players are hopeful for a balanced yet engaging character that adds a fresh dynamic to battles.
A bittersweet addition for some players
While most Pokemon Unite players eagerly anticipate Tinkaton’s arrival in December, those in Belgium and the Netherlands face a different reality. As announced in September, support for the game on Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms in these regions will cease on November 30th. In-game purchases were disabled in October, leaving players with only a few days remaining to enjoy the game.
The Future of Pokemon Unite
Tinkaton’s addition underscores the ongoing evolution of Pokemon Unite. With a continuously expanding roster and a dedicated development team, the game shows no signs of slowing down. Players can look forward to discovering Tinkaton’s unique playstyle and how this powerful Pokemon will reshape the competitive landscape. The future of Pokemon Unite looks bright, promising exciting new characters and strategic possibilities for years to come.
