The game, initially revealed at The Game Awards in 2022, was slated to be a 1-4 player action game set in the Transformers universe. Following the announcement, information about Reactivate became scarce, leading to speculation among fans. This cancellation announcement explains the silence and reveals internal challenges within the project.
In a statement released on social media, Splash Damage confirmed the end of development for Transformers: Reactivate. The studio acknowledged that this decision would lead to downsizing, placing some employees at risk of redundancy. Splash Damage expressed gratitude towards Hasbro, the owner of the Transformers IP, for their collaboration on the project and briefly mentioned their ongoing work on “other projects”.

Beyond the initial trailer, official information regarding Transformers: Reactivate remained virtually nonexistent. Leaked gameplay footage surfaced last year, suggesting a third-person perspective similar to the acclaimed Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron games. However, this leak marked the last instance of any news about the game until this recent cancellation announcement.
While the cancellation of Transformers: Reactivate is undoubtedly disappointing for fans, there remains a glimmer of hope for other Transformers gaming experiences.
