Triangle Strategy, initially launched as a Nintendo Switch exclusive in 2022, later saw releases on PC and VR platforms. However, it remains a console exclusive to the Switch, likely due to a publishing agreement with Nintendo. The game joined a diverse lineup of 2022 Switch releases, including titles like Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Persona 5 Royal, and Splatoon 3, contributing to a year marked by strong third-party support for the console.
Despite positive critical reception, achieving a Metacritic score of 82, Triangle Strategy’s sales performance was reportedly soft, dampening prospects for a sequel. This outcome, while disappointing, is not entirely unexpected given the niche appeal of turn-based tactical RPGs in the broader gaming market.
The game’s sudden removal from the eShop has sparked concern among potential buyers. Square Enix addressed the issue on X (formerly Twitter), confirming the game’s temporary unavailability. Reassuringly, players who previously purchased Triangle Strategy retain access to their digital copy.
