The Sew Delightful update has graced Disney Dreamlight Valley, introducing the eagerly awaited Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Naturally, players are keen to welcome her to their Valley. While some characters, like Tiana, are easy to befriend, others, like Timon and Pumbaa, present more of a challenge. Given Sally’s close connection to Jack Skellington, it’s no surprise that having Jack in the Valley is a prerequisite. However, there are other less obvious requirements to begin Sally’s quest.
Fans have been clamoring for Sally since Jack Skellington’s arrival almost a year ago. But has everyone maxed out their friendship with Jack? Not necessarily. New players join the Valley constantly, and the path to unlocking Jack is lengthy and resource-intensive. The Dreamlight grind is a real commitment.
Aspiring sewers will need a level 10 friendship with Jack before embarking on Sally’s quest. This mirrors similar quests, such as befriending Simba and Nala before locating Timon and Pumbaa. However, initiating Sally’s quest is a bit more intricate, requiring extra effort from Nightmare Before Christmas enthusiasts.

Prerequisites for Sally’s Quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The quest to meet Sally begins with Jack’s letter, “A Delightful Surprise!” Before checking your mailbox, ensure you’ve fulfilled the following conditions:
- Level 10 Friendship with Jack Skellington
- Unlocked Mirabel and completed her first friendship quest
- Unlocked Vanellope Von Schweetz through the Dreamsnaps quest
- Unlocked Remy
- Completed Merlin’s “Odds & Ends” Story Quest
While befriending Jack seems logical, the other requirements are less intuitive. Merlin’s “Odds & Ends” quest, triggered after “The Remembered” quest, involves comforting the Forgotten and restoring the Orb of Remembrance to the Forgotten Lands—the location where players initially unlock Jack Skellington.
Unlocking Jack requires finding four elusive Matryoshka Dolls. The fourth doll has been known to cause issues for some players, hindering their progress in meeting Jack, let alone reaching level 10 friendship. The latest patch might be the perfect opportunity to revisit the Valley and search for that final doll.
So, where do Mirabel, Vanellope, and Remy fit in? They play a role in Sally’s questline, requiring their homes to be established in the Valley. Mirabel arrives after finding the Golden Doorknob and completing friendship acts. Remy is unlocked by visiting the Ratatouille realm in the Dream Castle. Vanellope, also found in the castle, will guide you through the steps to bring her to the Valley.

Once these prerequisites are met, you should receive Jack’s letter, “A Delightful Surprise!” Visit Kristoff’s house in the Forest of Valor to begin the quest. You’ll need to collect Spiderwebs and assist the spiders in opening a portal for Sally’s escape.
The quest itself isn’t overly challenging but requires specific ingredients for a Rejuvenation Potion:
- Empty Vial
- Blueberry Pie
- 4 Red Bell Flowers
- 4 Night Shards
- 6 Cotton
- 8 Mushrooms
Most ingredients are readily available. However, those unfamiliar with Blueberry Pie might need to experiment in the kitchen.

The pie requires Blueberries, Wheat, and Butter. Wheat seeds can be purchased in the Peaceful Meadow, blueberries foraged from Dazzle Beach and the Forest of Valor, and butter bought from Remy’s kitchen.
With only two main steps and minimal grinding, the biggest hurdle to befriending Sally in Disney Dreamlight Valley is likely fulfilling the initial requirements.
