Duke, originally purchased as a kitten along with his brother Nero, disappeared from his Corby, UK home in January 2017. His owner, Stephanie Barstow, conducted extensive searches, fearing the worst due to reports of foxes in the area. After eight months, she sadly gave up the search, though she never lost hope.
Seven years later, in a heartwarming twist of fate, a veterinarian knocked on Barstow’s door. The vet had been treating Duke, who had been brought in from a nearby factory after it was deemed unsafe for him. Although the microchip information was outdated, the vet recognized Duke’s distinctive markings and remembered Barstow’s previous search efforts.
The factory, located just 300 yards from Barstow’s home, had become Duke’s unexpected sanctuary. Factory staff had even built him a small shelter and provided regular meals, showcasing their compassion for the stray cat.
