Back in November, Google announced a helpful feature to simplify package tracking, eliminating the need to navigate through emails or copy-paste tracking numbers. This feature, designed to streamline the monitoring of shipments, is finally available.

This long-awaited package tracking feature is now live, but requires manual activation and is currently exclusive to Android and iOS devices through the Gmail app. Here’s how to enable it:

Android:

  1. Open the Gmail app and tap the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner.
  2. Scroll down and select Settings.
  3. Choose the desired email account.
  4. In the account-specific settings, locate Package tracking and check the box.

Once enabled, opening a shipment notification email within the Gmail app will display dynamic tracking information at the top, showing the delivery status – shipped, in transit, or delivered. While this convenient feature is currently limited to the mobile app, the web version is expected soon. In the meantime, perhaps use the extra time to organize your inbox.
