Apple Wallet continues to evolve, with a notable update renaming “Subscriptions & Payments” to “Preauthorized Payments” in the latest iOS 18.4 beta. This clearer terminology provides a more accurate representation of the feature’s function, offering insights into impending payments.
Currently, users can view upcoming subscription payments by navigating to Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions. This section displays active and inactive subscriptions, along with the next payment date and amount. However, iOS 18.4 introduces a convenient alternative location within Apple Wallet, expanding the scope to encompass payments beyond traditional subscriptions. Apple defines preauthorized payments as charges authorized by merchants to your Apple Pay payment method for various purposes, including subscriptions, auto-reloads, billing charges, and more.

This seemingly minor change offers a significant improvement in user experience. Many users believe Apple could further enhance this feature by consolidating all upcoming payments under a single, unified menu within Apple Wallet. This would streamline budget management and solidify the iPhone’s role as a comprehensive life management tool.
While currently exclusive to the iOS 18.4 beta, this enhanced payment tracking functionality is expected to be available to all iPhone users with the official release of iOS 18.4 in April. Users eager to experience these new features can participate in the beta program, but be aware of potential system instability associated with pre-release software.
