Spotify, renowned for its exceptional music recommendation algorithm, consistently introduces features that empower users to curate their musical journey. Recently, Spotify unveiled new controls and settings designed to enhance playlist personalization, including a “Snooze” feature offering a 30-day reprieve from overplayed tracks.
Even with Spotify’s sophisticated algorithm, certain songs can become repetitive. The new Snooze feature allows Premium users a temporary 30-day break from frequently played songs. During this period, the snoozed track disappears from recommendations, reappearing after the 30-day period. Users can repeatedly snooze a track if desired.
For a more permanent solution, the “Hide” button prevents a song from playing within a specific playlist. Dislike an artist entirely? The “Block” feature ensures Spotify avoids recommending their music altogether.
Premium users gain further control over their Queue. Previously, Spotify automatically played random recommendations after the queued list ended. Now, these recommendations appear at the queue’s end, allowing users to selectively remove or retain tracks. Disabling Autoplay in settings eliminates recommendations entirely. Standard playlist features like Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat, and Sleep Timer now apply to the Queue.
Spotify also refined playlist management tools on mobile devices, adding “Add,” “Sort,” and “Edit” buttons at the top of each playlist. Users in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and South Africa can now create playlists directly from their Liked Songs.
While the Snooze feature is currently exclusive to Premium users, Spotify plans to expand its availability soon.
Currently, the Snooze feature remains under testing with Premium users, but Spotify intends to extend this functionality to a broader audience shortly. Stay tuned for updates.
