The Google Pixel 9 has enjoyed considerable popularity over the past eight months, lauded for its impressive cameras, exceptional battery life, innovative use of Gemini AI, and a premium matte finish comparable to the iPhone 16. With summer approaching, anticipation builds for the next iteration: the Google Pixel 10. While no official announcement has been made, preliminary reports and leaks offer glimpses into its potential design, features, and performance enhancements. This article compiles everything we know so far about the Google Pixel 10.

Design and Display

The Google Pixel 10 is rumored to feature several hardware upgrades compared to the Pixel 9. One significant enhancement is the anticipated integration of the Tensor G5 processor. This new chip is expected to rival the iPhone’s performance, a notable step up from the Tensor G4. The Tensor G5 reportedly utilizes an octa-core architecture: one Arm Cortex-X4 core for demanding tasks, two Cortex-A520 cores for lighter operations, and five Cortex-A725 cores for medium-intensity processes.

Visually, the Pixel 10 is projected to sport a 6.3-inch OLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The chassis and matte glass back are expected to remain largely consistent with its predecessor, potentially incorporating Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This material offers a soft touch but may also introduce increased fragility. The metal chassis will likely retain its satin finish, providing a secure grip, further enhanced with a protective case.

On the software front, the Pixel 10 will launch with Pixel Sense, Google’s latest AI assistant. Powered by Gemini Nano, the compact version of Google Gemini, Pixel Sense analyzes data from various sources, including apps, text messages, images, and media files, to deliver contextually relevant predictions based on user behavior. It can answer questions about personal data without transmitting information to Google’s servers, prioritizing user privacy.

Camera Enhancements

The Pixel 10 is expected to retain the familiar pill-shaped camera module introduced with the Pixel 9. However, a key upgrade is the rumored inclusion of a dedicated 11MP telephoto lens, a first for the base Pixel model. This addition brings it in line with the Pro models, but seemingly at the expense of other camera specifications. The ultrawide camera is speculated to be 13MP, and the selfie camera 11MP. The main camera remains at 50MP but is reportedly upgraded to the Samsung GN8 sensor, previously featured in the Pixel 9a.

Compared to the Pixel 9’s 48MP ultrawide and 10.5MP selfie cameras, these changes represent a potential trade-off. To justify the addition of the telephoto lens, Google could incorporate the 8x Super Res Zoom feature.

Battery and Charging

Details about the Pixel 10’s battery capacity and performance are limited. Rumors suggest a 4,700 mAh battery, similar to the Pixel 9, or potentially a larger 5,000 mAh option. Either capacity should provide sufficient power for 24 hours of typical usage or up to 100 hours in Extreme Battery Saver Mode, though the latter claim seems ambitious given the impact of screen time on battery drain.

Information on charging speeds is also scarce. If it follows the Pixel 9’s precedent, the Pixel 10 might support 45W fast charging, achieving a 55% charge in 30 minutes.

Release Date and Price

The Google Pixel 10 is tentatively slated for release in August 2025, aligning with the Pixel 9’s launch timeframe. Pricing is estimated around $800, barring any impact from tariffs. However, the inclusion of the Tensor G5 chip and the telephoto lens could potentially justify a price increase of up to $100 compared to the Pixel 9.
