Nothing Phone 2 users are in for a treat with the latest May OS update, bringing a host of significant improvements and features to enhance the user experience. This update focuses on bolstering privacy, streamlining media access, refining system performance, and incorporating the latest Android security patch.

One of the standout additions is the new Privacy Space, easily accessible via a right swipe from the app drawer. This dedicated area allows users to securely store sensitive apps and data, adding an extra layer of security. For enhanced control, separate passwords can now be set for the standard App Locker and the new Privacy Space.

Complementing the privacy enhancements is the introduction of Nothing Gallery. This intuitively designed app provides a sleek and seamless experience for viewing and managing photos and videos. For a more discreet unlocking process, a new toggle in the Settings menu allows users to disable the haptic feedback during face unlock on the lock screen.

Beyond these key features, the May OS update also delivers several performance optimizations. Launcher animations have been refined for smoother and more responsive app launches. System stability has been improved, including enhancements to cellular network connections, Wi-Fi performance, and overall system responsiveness. Accessibility improvements have also been made to the Status Bar and Notification Centre, making them more user-friendly.

The update is currently rolling out to Nothing Phone 2 users and can be found under Settings > System > System updates > Download and Install.

This update comes amidst a busy year for Nothing, with anticipation building for the upcoming Nothing 3, touted by the CEO as their first “true flagship”. This would be the fourth phone released by the company in 2025, following the Nothing Phone 3a, Nothing Phone 3a Pro, and CMF Phone 2 Pro.
