OnePlus has officially unveiled its latest compact smartphone, the OnePlus 13T, in China. This highly anticipated device arrives as a direct response to the growing trend of thin and light phones, exemplified by upcoming flagships like the Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone 17 Air. Despite its smaller footprint, the OnePlus 13T boasts impressive specifications, including the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a stunning high-resolution display, and a substantial battery that defies its compact size.
The OnePlus 13T’s most striking feature is its compact design, a departure from the prevailing trend of increasingly large smartphones. Featuring a 6.32-inch AMOLED display, compared to the 6.9-inch screen of the OnePlus 13, the 13T prioritizes one-handed usability. Despite the smaller size, the display retains a crisp 1.5K resolution and an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz, along with Dolby Vision support and a peak brightness of 2,400 nits.

The 13T’s design draws inspiration from the iPhone 16, particularly with the inclusion of a customizable button reminiscent of the iPhone’s Action Button and a visually titanium-esque frame. This button can be configured to toggle audio profiles or control specific camera functions. Weighing in at 185 grams, the OnePlus 13T is lighter than its larger sibling, though still heavier than competitors like the Galaxy S25 and iPhone 16. The phone is available in three matte-finish colors: light pink, silver, and dark gray. OnePlus will also offer a range of cases to complement the phone’s design.

Unlike previous “T” models, the OnePlus 13T matches the performance of its numerically designated counterpart, the OnePlus 13. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and boasting 16GB of RAM, the 13T inherits the same multi-layer vapor cooling system as the OnePlus 13 for optimal thermal management during demanding tasks like gaming. Storage options extend up to a generous 1TB.

A robust 6,260mAh battery, comparable to those found in larger smartphones, ensures ample power. Fast charging is supported via 80W SuperVOOC technology, along with 27W wireless charging using OnePlus’ magnetic charging puck.

Similar to Samsung’s approach, the OnePlus 13T streamlines its camera system, featuring a dual-camera setup compared to the triple-camera array on the OnePlus 13. The rear camera module, seemingly inspired by the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro, comprises a 50MP primary sensor with OIS and a 50MP telephoto lens with 2X optical zoom. Notably, Hasselblad color science is absent from the 13T.
The OnePlus 13T runs ColorOS 15 in China, but a global release would likely feature OxygenOS instead. While visually similar, the two operating systems offer region-specific customizations.
In China, the OnePlus 13T starts at CNY 3,399 (~$470) for the 12GB + 256GB model and reaches CNY 4,499 (~$620) for the 16GB + 1TB variant. Global pricing may differ, and potential US tariffs could significantly impact the phone’s affordability in North America. Further details regarding international availability are expected in the coming weeks.
