The OPPO Find N5, touted as the thinnest foldable smartphone to date, is launching with a surprising caveat: it won’t be available in the US and Europe, two of the largest smartphone markets globally. While OPPO’s absence from the US market was anticipated, the exclusion of Europe is unexpected and raises questions about the company’s global expansion strategy.
OPPO confirmed this limited availability in a statement to The Tech Chap (via Android Authority), explaining that product launches are tailored to specific regions based on market research and strategic priorities. This contradicts OPPO’s earlier statement during the Find N5’s announcement, which positioned the device as a “new phase in OPPO’s global expansion.” The current launch markets are confirmed to be China and Singapore only.

The OPPO Find N5 boasts impressive specifications, including a sleek foldable design prioritizing thinness and portability. Its 8.12-inch inner foldable display and 6.62-inch outer display both feature a 120Hz refresh rate. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the Find N5 promises high performance for demanding applications and gaming. Its remarkably slim profile, measuring just 8.93mm thick and weighing 229 grams, sets it apart in the foldable phone segment.
This limited release presents a significant advantage for Samsung, the leading foldable phone manufacturer. Without the Find N5’s competition in major markets, Samsung maintains its dominant position. The exclusion of the US and Europe potentially hinders OPPO’s growth ambitions in the burgeoning foldable phone market.
The OPPO Find N5 is available for purchase in China and Singapore starting Friday, February 28th.
