Realme is generating excitement for a camera announcement at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, using the popular “Ultra” moniker for its upcoming smartphone. This naming convention, already adopted by Samsung, Xiaomi, Motorola, and others, hints at the phone’s key feature: an “ultra-large” camera sensor.

While a full reveal isn’t expected at MWC 2025, Realme has teased some key details. Besides the ultra-large sensor, speculated to be a 1-inch sensor similar to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s, the new phone will also boast a telephoto lens for optical zoom capabilities. This mirrors current trends in smartphone photography, where larger sensors and advanced zoom features are becoming increasingly common.

Realme claims its camera testing has yielded “unprecedented advancements in portrait photography and low-light performance,” promising to “set a new standard for smartphone photography.” Such claims are common in the industry, but the company’s emphasis on these specific areas suggests they are key focus points for the new device. A teaser image further reinforces this focus, showcasing a shadowed smartphone with a prominent, large camera module.

Realme’s new camera isn’t the only item on the MWC 2025 agenda. The company will also announce global release details for the Realme 14 series, including the previously announced Realme 14 Pro Plus. This phone, first revealed in 2024, features a thermochromic rear panel that changes color with temperature. The off-white finish with gold flecks shifts to include icy blue hues in colder temperatures, offering a unique visual appeal.
