The macOS Sequoia update has arrived, introducing several key features such as iPhone Mirroring, Safari enhancements, integrated window tiling, and a dedicated Passwords app. While Apple Intelligence features are absent from this release, they are expected to begin rolling out next month.
iPhone Mirroring is arguably the most anticipated feature of this update. It allows users to interact with their iPhone’s messages, notifications, and apps directly on their Mac, eliminating the need to switch devices. This addresses a common scenario where users are at their computers and prefer not to interrupt their workflow by picking up their phones. The mirrored iPhone appears as a phone-shaped app on the Mac’s display.
While highly promising, iPhone Mirroring is not yet fully realized. Features like drag and drop functionality are slated for release later this year. Furthermore, the feature is currently unavailable in Europe, displaying a message stating “iPhone Mirroring is not available in your country or region” upon attempting to access it. Hopefully, Apple will resolve any regulatory hurdles with the EU soon, allowing broader access to this feature and the upcoming Apple Intelligence enhancements.

The introduction of native window tiling functionality is a welcome addition to macOS Sequoia, albeit long overdue. Previously, Mac users often resorted to third-party apps to achieve the window management capabilities readily available in Windows and many Linux distributions.
Safari also receives notable updates with the introduction of the Highlights feature. This feature collates key information from web pages into an easily accessible location. Additionally, the Reader view has been refined and improved for a more streamlined reading experience.
Looking ahead, Apple Intelligence features are expected to arrive next month. These include enhancements to Siri, Private Cloud Compute, Genmoji, Writing Tools, and more. While some of these features are currently available in beta testing, we await their official release.
The anticipated launch of new M4 Macs next month presents an ideal opportunity to showcase these Apple Intelligence features. These new Macs are rumored to feature a significantly enhanced Neural Engine, promising improved on-device AI processing capabilities.
