AMD’s RX 9000 series graphics cards have been a hit with gamers, offering competitive performance against some of the best GPUs on the market. Demand has been high, leading to widespread stock shortages shortly after launch. The good news is that AMD has confirmed more GPUs are on the way. The less positive news? Pricing remains a concern.
Frank Azor, AMD’s chief architect of gaming solutions and gaming marketing, recently confirmed the restock in response to an RX 9070 XT review. He thanked the publication and stated: “More supply is coming. Thank you for your patience.”
This is welcome news, as the RX 9000 series has enjoyed a successful launch. AMD’s pricing strategy, combined with positive reviews and seemingly ample supply (compared to Nvidia’s RTX 50-series), has resonated with gamers. A recent survey indicated over 70% of gamers opted for AMD over Nvidia’s latest offerings.

While the news of increased supply is encouraging, the crucial question remains: will these GPUs be available at their MSRP? Some retailers have already indicated they may not be able to maintain MSRP going forward, which is a worrying sign.
Current GPU Pricing on Major Retailers
A quick look at major online retailers like Amazon and Newegg reveals a concerning pricing landscape. Amazon has limited RX 9070 XT listings, and those available are priced significantly above MSRP. Newegg’s stock is currently depleted, with only one card initially listed at MSRP. The remaining listed cards range from $670 to $860, well above the recommended price.

Many gamers share these pricing concerns, with responses to Azor’s tweet focusing on MSRP availability. The RX 9000 series offers excellent value at its $600 MSRP, but inflated prices diminish that value proposition. A $250 (or more) price hike significantly impacts purchasing decisions.
Looking Ahead
For now, patience is key. Hopefully, AMD will collaborate with its add-in board (AIB) partners to address these pricing concerns and ensure the upcoming restock offers GPUs at a reasonable price point. Gamers eagerly await the opportunity to purchase these highly sought-after graphics cards without paying exorbitant markups.
