WowMouse, a gesture control app initially launched for Android, is now available for Apple Watch. This innovative app allows users to control their Macs, and potentially much more, with simple wrist movements. Developed by DoublePoint, WowMouse offers a unique way to interact with your devices, going beyond simple cursor and click control.
The app leverages the Apple Watch’s sensors to translate gestures into commands, effectively turning your wrist into a virtual mouse. This functionality extends beyond basic computer control, with DoublePoint aiming to expand compatibility to any Bluetooth-enabled device. Imagine controlling your smart home appliances, gaming, or even interacting with XR applications all from your watch.

DoublePoint has partnered with Bosch Sensortec to integrate their advanced gesture algorithms with Bosch’s inertial measurement units (IMUs). This collaboration ensures energy-efficient and precise gesture recognition, optimizing the app’s performance. Bosch Sensortec, a leading provider of MEMS sensors for various applications including activity tracking and image stabilization, brings its expertise to further enhance the WowMouse experience.
At CES 2025, DoublePoint showcased the potential of WowMouse. Attendees witnessed the app’s capabilities in controlling smart home devices, playing games, summoning AI assistants, and acting as an XR input device. These demonstrations highlighted the versatility and future possibilities of gesture-based control.

Alongside the Apple Watch release, DoublePoint has also updated the app’s framework, significantly improving accuracy. Static accuracy now reaches 97%, while mid-walk and running accuracy have risen to 95% and 94%, respectively. These advancements open up new possibilities for innovative applications in various fields, from fitness wearables and accessibility tools to everyday device interactions.
While Apple offers its own wrist-based gesture controls with the Double Tap feature, it’s currently limited to the Apple Watch Ultra 2, Series 9, and its successor. WowMouse offers a broader range of control and compatibility, extending its functionality to a wider user base. With its open-source software and ambitious roadmap, DoublePoint aims to revolutionize how we interact with our technology, making gesture control a seamless part of our daily lives.
The growing popularity of the Android version, boasting over 100,000 downloads, suggests a strong demand for this type of intuitive control. The expansion to Apple Watch promises to further accelerate this trend, bridging the gap between wearables and the devices we interact with daily.
