Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology is rapidly expanding its reach, recently adding support for six new games: Steel Seed, The Talos Principle: Reawakened, RuneScape: Dragonwilds, Tempest Rising, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Commandos: Origins. This expansion further solidifies Nvidia’s leading position in the upscaling arena.

Steel Seed, a stealth-action adventure game, now boasts DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, providing significant performance boosts for GeForce RTX 50-series GPU users. The Talos Principle: Reawakened, a reimagined puzzle game, integrates both DLSS Frame Generation and Super Resolution, leading to smoother frame rates and enhanced visuals. Similarly, RuneScape: Dragonwilds and Tempest Rising have adopted DLSS to optimize in-game performance. Upcoming titles Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Commandos: Origins will launch with DLSS Super Resolution, promising improved frame rates and sharper visuals across a range of RTX graphics cards.

With over 760 games and applications now supporting DLSS, Nvidia significantly outpaces competitors like AMD’s FSR and Intel’s XeSS. A key advantage is Nvidia’s ability to retrofit DLSS into existing games via the Nvidia App. This allows for manual implementation of technologies like Multi-Frame Generation, even without official developer integration, accelerating deployment across a wider range of titles.

In contrast, AMD’s FSR and Intel’s XeSS rely more heavily on developer adoption of newer versions like FSR 3.1 or XeSS 2.0, hindering their progress. AMD’s FSR 4, introduced alongside the Radeon RX 9000-series, offers automatic upgrades for some titles, but support remains limited.

DLSS 4’s comprehensive features and expanding adoption solidify Nvidia’s dominance in the GPU market. As developers prioritize DLSS integration, support for competing technologies may lag further behind. While AMD’s latest Radeon launch was positive, competing with Nvidia’s software ecosystem requires more than just powerful hardware. Nvidia’s proactive approach to DLSS implementation gives them a significant edge in providing gamers with enhanced performance and visuals.
