Windows 11 already offers robust multitasking capabilities thanks to its Snap Layouts feature. Users familiar with splitting their screen using this feature understand its efficiency. Now, multitasking is poised to become even smoother with the Windows 11 KB5046716 update, which introduces refined Snap Layouts and hidden label functionalities, as initially observed by Phantomofearth and subsequently confirmed by Windows Latest.
New Snap Layout options for Windows 11.
Windows Latest, after testing these features, confirmed that Microsoft is experimenting with various text options within the Snap Layouts interface, including:
- Choose an app layout for your screen
- Choose where to move this window
- Choose where to snap this window
- Choose where to arrange this window
Microsoft had previously simplified the Snap Layouts feature by displaying icons of open apps and descriptive text within the layout, clearly indicating app placement. The convenient keyboard shortcut (Windows key + z) is also displayed as a reminder. However, previously, the lack of explanatory text for the layout options made it challenging for new users to grasp the feature’s functionality. This update aims to address that issue.
Microsoft’s update also brings enhancements to the File Explorer. Regularly used actions like paste, copy, and delete now have clearer labels, improving user workflow. The Beta build also includes several other notable improvements, such as adding share support to the Start menu. This new feature allows for direct file sharing from the Taskbar jump lists.
Right-clicking any icon on the Taskbar reveals a share icon next to the file. Furthermore, a new gamepad layout for the on-screen keyboard allows for quick typing and navigation using an Xbox controller. Additionally, improvements to the Narrator feature enable users to bypass links in text files and jump directly to lists or tables of contents.
This Windows 11 update focuses on enhancing user experience and accessibility through improved multitasking and streamlined workflows. The refined Snap Layouts and clearer labeling within File Explorer, along with the added share functionality and gamepad support, contribute to a more intuitive and efficient operating system.
