The current GPU market is challenging, making it difficult to find top graphics cards. Hopes for a new high-performance GPU from Intel seem to be dwindling. Recent leaks suggest that Intel may not be developing a flagship GPU to succeed the Arc B580, and the future of its next-generation Arc Celestial GPUs appears uncertain.
Hardware leaker Jaykihn on X (formerly Twitter) recently shared insights, adding to previous rumors about the cancellation of the BMG-G31 GPU. While unconfirmed by Intel, Jaykihn stated that the project was terminated in Q3 of last year. The BMG-G31 was intended to be Intel’s top-tier offering, comparable to the Arc A770 but with enhanced performance. Instead, Intel focused on the mainstream market with the release of the $250 B580.
When questioned about the next-generation Intel Arc Celestial GPUs, Jaykihn offered a concerning “nothing to report.” While this doesn’t confirm cancellation, it raises doubts about their release timeline and potential scope.

Given Intel’s investment in Celestial, it’s unlikely the project will be entirely abandoned. However, a limited release, similar to the Arc Battlemage series, is possible. Rumors suggest that BMG might not be integrated into laptops, further indicating a potential scaling back of Intel’s discrete graphics ambitions.
A more powerful GPU from Intel would be a welcome addition in the current GPU-scarce market. With Nvidia and AMD GPUs facing high prices and limited availability, consumers are struggling to find affordable options. Unfortunately, it seems Intel may not offer immediate relief.
Despite these leaks, there’s still a chance for Intel to deliver competitive performance-per-dollar with the Celestial series. Previous reports indicated that development was progressing well. While a flagship B770 may not materialize, Intel could still surprise us. However, a 2026 release for Celestial GPUs appears most likely, leaving consumers to navigate the challenging GPU market for the foreseeable future.
