LG has unveiled a revamped Gram Pro series and a new budget-conscious Gram Book just before CES. The updated Gram Pro laptops, particularly the LG Gram Pro 17 with its noteworthy enhancements, are the most compelling of the bunch.
The LG Gram Pro 17 has been slimmed down to a mere 0.62 inches, almost matching the 16-inch MacBook Pro’s thickness, while being significantly lighter. Both laptops are vying for a spot among the best laptops available. The new Gram Pro series also includes updated 16-inch models.

Enhanced Performance and Graphics
The LG Gram Pro 17 boasts an upgraded Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU, a significant leap from the previous model’s RTX 3050. This brings the Gram Pro 17 up to speed with current graphics technology, offering improved performance for demanding tasks.
Component Distribution Across Models
LG has taken a unique approach to its Gram Pro lineup, distributing high-end features across the three models. The highest-resolution OLED display is exclusive to the LG Gram Pro 16 2-in-1, while the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor is reserved for the Gram Pro 16.
The 16-inch Gram Pro models prioritize portability. At just 0.50 inches thick and weighing as little as 2.73 pounds, they are remarkably portable for large-screen laptops, coming close to the 15-inch MacBook Air’s slim profile.
AI-Powered Features and Copilot+ Integration
All new Gram Pro laptops come with a minimum of 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This is crucial as LG introduces its first Gram laptops as Copilot+ PCs, leveraging the increased memory for AI capabilities. LG also introduces unique AI features like Gram Chat On-Device, using a local language model for AI chats without internet connectivity or data leaving the laptop. Gram Chat integrates with GPT-4o, forming a hybrid AI solution, and connects with personal applications like calendars and email, similar to Copilot, which is also integrated. Another AI feature, Time Travel, functions like Microsoft Recall, allowing users to easily revisit web pages, documents, videos, and audio files.
Introducing the LG Gram Book
Alongside the Gram Pro series, LG introduces the Gram Book, a budget-friendly laptop targeting a different market segment. It utilizes older components and standards to achieve a lower price point, featuring a 16:9 aspect ratio screen with a 60Hz refresh rate, a 720p webcam, an older-generation Intel processor, and 8GB of RAM in its base configuration.
Pricing and Availability
Pricing and availability details for the new Gram Pro and Gram Book laptops will be announced in March 2025. The Gram Book’s pricing will be key to its competitiveness among budget laptops.
