Panasonic and Anthropic have announced a partnership to develop Umi, an AI-powered family wellness coaching app, revealed at CES 2025. This innovative app aims to enhance family well-being by facilitating communication, coordination, and connection among family members.
Umi is designed to assist families in setting shared goals, establishing routines, and managing everyday tasks. Whether it’s prioritizing family dinners or increasing physical activity, users can input their objectives using the app’s intuitive natural language voice interface. The app leverages Anthropic’s Claude AI to provide personalized recommendations and support.
Panasonic envisions Umi as a valuable tool for families of all ages and varying needs. During the CES demonstration, the company highlighted the app’s potential to help caregivers stay informed about the activities and well-being of elderly family members. Beyond AI-driven insights, Umi will integrate expertise from a network of wellness professionals to offer comprehensive guidance on establishing and maintaining healthy habits.

Umi is scheduled for release in the United States later in 2025. Panasonic is also extending access to its Panasonic Well’s Partner Collective, which includes companies like Aaptiv, Precision Nutrition, SleepScore Labs, Addition Wealth, BlueApron, and Calm. This collaboration suggests that Claude’s AI capabilities could be integrated into other wellness products in the future. Furthermore, Panasonic plans to incorporate Claude into its customer service, sales, and marketing operations.
Alongside Umi, Panasonic unveiled its “Panasonic Go” initiative, designed to accelerate AI-driven innovation within the company. By 2030, Panasonic projects that 30% of its revenue will be generated from AI-powered hardware, software, and solution businesses.
