Samsung showcased more than just its 500Hz OLED monitor at CES 2025. Two other unique displays caught attention: a groundbreaking 37-inch 4K monitor and the impressive 5K ultrawide Odyssey G7.

Most gaming monitors above 32 inches tend to jump to 40 or 42 inches, often utilizing repurposed TV panels. This leaves a gap in the market for something larger than 32 inches without going full-on TV size. Samsung’s 37-inch 4K monitor addresses this gap, providing a new option for gamers seeking a larger display without the excess of a television. While ultrawide options exist above 32 inches, this marks a rare offering in the standard 16:9 aspect ratio.

The other standout, the Odyssey G7, is a 40-inch 5K (5120 x 2160) ultrawide (21:9 aspect ratio) monitor. Similar to LG’s recently announced 5K2K display, the G7 boasts an impressive pixel density of 139 pixels per inch (ppi), significantly higher than the standard 100 ppi target for most monitors. While not quite reaching the extreme pixel density of monitors like the Asus ROG PG27UCDM, the Odyssey G7 still offers exceptional clarity.

Beyond resolution, the Odyssey G7 features a 180Hz refresh rate and a 1ms gray-to-gray response time, promising smooth and responsive gameplay. It also supports VESA DisplayHDR 600 and Samsung’s own HDR10+ Gaming standard, utilizing dynamic metadata for enhanced HDR performance in games.
